Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Star Wars' registered in 2011, 'Skywalker' is a giant blue-green version of its parent. It is distinguished by its large, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases, moderate corrugation, and a heavy glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

'Skywalker' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 45 inches (114 cm) in diameter and 20 inches (51 cm) in height. Its substantial blue-green foliage provides strong contrast when paired with gold or chartreuse hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and is suitable for the middle to back of a border or as a specimen plant.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The heavy glaucous bloom may be diminished by overhead watering or heavy rainfall; slug and deer damage should be monitored as with most large-leaved hostas.
