Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Unforgettable' registered in 1999, 'Skyrocket' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its upright growth habit and intense golden yellow leaf margins contrasting with blue-green centers. The leaves measure 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with 11 to 13 vein pairs, a cordate base, and a slightly shiny upper surface with glaucous bloom beneath.

In the Garden

'Skyrocket' forms a clump 18 inches (45.7 cm) tall and 9 inches (22.9 cm) in diameter, with scapes reaching 22 to 28 inches (55.9 to 71.1 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold margins remain bright without scorching. The moderate growth rate and compact size suit it for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings, where its upright foliage provides vertical accent among lower-growing perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Skyrocket' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
