Overview
Registered in 1987 by P. Aden, *Hosta* 'Showtime' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a cross between *H. 'Fragrant Bouquet'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Fragrant Candelabra'* (pollen parent). Its leaves are dark green with white margins and exhibit several undulations along the margins, giving the foliage a rippled appearance.
In the Garden
'Showtime' reaches a mature spread of approximately 32 inches (81 cm) and a height of 22 inches (56 cm), with scapes extending to 32 inches (81 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a groundcover in shaded areas. Its medium size allows pairing with ferns, heucheras, or smaller perennials that contrast with its white-edged leaves.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly and take protective measures if needed.
