Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Over the Waves' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its medium blue-green, ovate leaves with slightly rippled margins, light twisting, and a subtle sheen on the upper surface. The plant is further notable for its green scapes with red speckling and green petioles with red coloration, providing contrast against the blue-green foliage.

'Over the Waves' reaches a mature spread of 20 inches (50.8 cm) and a height of 11 inches (27.9 cm), with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as a specimen in small garden spaces.
