Overview

Registered in 2015, 'Nikkma' is a medium-sized hosta of unknown parentage, distinguished by its unique blue-green foliage that retains a dull, matte finish on both leaf surfaces. The leaves are broadly ovate with cordate bases, cupped and wavy along flat margins, and the plant forms an upright, moderate-growing clump.

In the Garden

'Nikkma' reaches a mature height of 8 inches (20.3 cm) with a spread of 17 inches (43.2 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade typical of hosta-growing zones. Its blue-green leaves pair well with golden or chartreuse-foliaged companions such as *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' or *Carex* species. The upright habit and medium size also allow for use in shaded containers or as a groundcover accent.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Nikkma' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
