Overview

Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Night Flight' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its deeply wavy, broadly ovate leaves with a glaucous blue-green bloom on both surfaces. The most visually striking feature is the saturated black-purple coloration of the petioles and scape, which extends into the leaf blade, contrasting with near-white bracts.

In the Garden

'Night Flight' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials where the dark petioles and scapes provide strong vertical accent. The 25 to 29 inch (63.5–73.7 cm) scapes bear near-white bracts that further highlight the saturated stem color.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The glaucous leaf surface may be susceptible to slug damage in damp conditions, and deer may browse young foliage.
