Overview
Registered in 1988 by R. Savory, this large hosta is a sport of *Hosta* 'Piedmont Gold'. It is distinguished by its green leaves with chartreuse to gold margins, a color pattern that reverses the typical gold-centered, green-margined appearance of its parent.
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Moonshine' reaches a mature spread of 45 inches (114.3 cm) and a height of 27 inches (68.6 cm), making it suitable as a specimen or for mid-border placement in shade to partial shade. Its large, rounded leaves with prominent veining pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The scape rises to 55 inches (139.7 cm), bearing pale lavender flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
