Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Million Dollar Baby' is a large hosta cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *Hosta* 'Heavenly Constellation' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its bright yellow leaves heavily streaked with blue-green, light green, and medium green tones, bordered by a blue-green margin, a pattern reminiscent of *Hosta* 'Great Expectations'.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature size of 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its substantial leaf size and striking variegation make it a suitable specimen for woodland borders or shaded garden beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
