Overview
Registered in 2014 by Marlu Hostas, 'Marlu's Clayton' is a large, fast-growing sport of *Hosta* 'Sagae' (open pollinated). It is distinguished by its upright, broadly ovate leaves with green centers and greenish yellow, flat margins, a dull surface on both sides, and a moderately folded, lightly corrugated texture.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches 28 inches (71.1 cm) in height and 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a bold specimen or focal point in partial to full shade. Its upright habit and large leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. It is not recommended for containers due to its large mature size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
