Overview
Registered in 2014, *Hosta* 'Molly Morris' is a large, mound-forming cultivar of unknown parentage (pollen parent not recorded), with *H.* 'Fat Cat' as the pod parent. It is visually distinguished by its broad, flat, dull green leaves edged in golden yellow, and by the large gold coloration that develops in the leaf centers as the season progresses.
In the Garden
'Fat Cat' offspring typically perform best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold margins remain brightest without scorching. At maturity, this cultivar reaches approximately 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, forming a dense, rounded clump. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or as a mid-border accent, pairing well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. It is not recommended for small containers due to its large mature spread.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage can occur; monitor regularly and take protective measures if needed. This cultivar is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
