Overview

Registered in 1985 by C. Owens, this medium-sized hosta cultivar resulted from a cross using *Hosta* 'Yellow Splash' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaf margins that are marbled with lighter green and cream variegation, creating a mottled appearance across the foliage.

In the Garden

'Marbled Cream' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 22 inches (55.9 cm) and a height of 7 inches (17.8 cm), placing it in the medium size class. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated leaves maintain their color contrast. This cultivar works well in woodland borders, shade gardens, or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees, and pairs effectively with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
