Overview
Registered in 1984 by M. Zilis, *Hosta* 'Sweet Standard' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Honeybells'. It is visually distinguished by its green leaves with white margins, occasional green streaking within the white, and slight ruffling along the leaf edges.
In the Garden
'Sweet Standard' performs best in partial to full shade, reaching a mature spread of 50 inches (127 cm) and a height of 22 inches (56 cm). Its medium size and white-margined foliage make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a groundcover under deciduous trees, where it can be paired with ferns or shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Astilbe*.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Sweet Standard' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
