Overview
Registered in 1999 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Marbled Cream', 'Marbled Cream Elite' is a large, slow-growing cultivar distinguished by its glossy, creamy white leaves with dark green, slightly rippled margins. The leaf blades reach 24.1 cm (9.5 in) in length and 17.8 cm (7 in) in width, with six pairs of veins and a rounded base, while the variegated scape rises to 91.4 cm (36 in) in height.
In the Garden
'Marbled Cream Elite' forms a mound-shaped clump 45.7 cm (18 in) in diameter and 40.6 cm (16 in) tall, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, where its highly reflective leaf surfaces—shiny on both top and underside—provide textural contrast. The large size and bold variegation make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders with ferns, heucheras, or other broad-leaved perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods; apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through standard control methods.
