Registered in 1997 by an unknown Lakeside breeder, 'Lakeside Love Affaire' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its broad white leaf centers framed by dark green, flat margins. The leaves are cordate at the base, slightly shiny on the upper surface and dull beneath, with 10 to 11 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a moderate-growing, upright mound reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white leaf centers remain most stable and avoid scorch. The bold variegation provides strong contrast when paired with fine-textured ferns or dark-leaved heucheras. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or shaded containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many variegated hostas, 'Lakeside Love Affaire' is susceptible to slug damage on the tender white leaf tissue, and deer may browse the foliage in typical hosta-growing zones.
