Overview

Registered in 1998, 'Kaitlyn' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Pin Stripe Sister'. It is visually distinctive for its medium green leaves with creamy white, slightly rippled margins, a cordate leaf base, and upright growth habit.

In the Garden

'Kaitlyn' reaches a mature diameter of 27 inches (68.6 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), with scapes rising 21 to 23 inches (53.3 to 58.4 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its moderate growth rate and upright form make it compatible with other shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, and astilbes.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Kaitlyn' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; take appropriate protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent. It is hardy in typical hosta-growing zones.
