Registered in 2009, Hosta 'Greenhead Golden Pineapple' is a large cultivar originating from a cross between Hosta 'Blue Tips' seedling (pod parent) and Hosta 'Galaxy' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, heavily corrugated green leaves with bright golden yellow, slightly rippled margins, a combination that creates strong contrast and a bold texture.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature size of 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its substantial leaf substance makes it suitable for both border plantings and as a specimen in shaded beds. The bold foliage pairs well with fine-textured ferns or shade-tolerant perennials such as Heuchera.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While the heavy leaf substance offers some resistance, standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
