Overview

Registered in 2003 by P. & J. Ruh as a sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Edger', 'Gold Edger Supreme' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its small, ovate leaves with green centers and light green-gold margins. The leaf surface is dull above and slightly shiny beneath, with five vein pairs, a rounded base, and a lightly cupped, flat profile.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a low, compact mound reaching approximately 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter and 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height, with a slow growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and performs well in rock gardens, troughs, or as a front-of-border accent. Its diminutive size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera* cultivars, or miniature sedges that share similar moisture and light requirements.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
