Overview

Registered in 2003, 'Little Lulu' is a miniature hosta of unknown pollen parentage, with *Hosta* 'Gingee' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its small, ovate leaves with green centers and golden yellow flat margins, a gold coloration that fades to green by midsummer.

In the Garden

'Little Lulu' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) in diameter and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for shaded or partly shaded positions in typical hosta-growing zones, and its diminutive size makes it an excellent candidate for troughs, containers, or the front of a rock garden. Pair with other miniature perennials such as small ferns or *Heuchera* cultivars for textural contrast.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry spells, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and manage as needed in the garden.
