Overview
Registered in 2011 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Gunther's Prize', 'Gerrie's Gift' is a giant-sized cultivar distinguished by its broad, blue-green leaves with wide, greenish-yellow margins. The foliage is broadly ovate with cordate bases, moderately cupped, and exhibits a slightly shiny to very shiny upper surface with a glaucous bloom beneath.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 66 inches (168 cm) in diameter and 40 inches (102 cm) in height, forming a dense, mound-like habit with a moderate growth rate. The substantial leaf size—17 inches (43 cm) long by 14 inches (36 cm) wide—makes this cultivar suitable as a specimen or focal point in partial to full shade. It pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its bold foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Gerrie's Gift' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitoring and appropriate controls may be necessary in typical hosta-growing zones.
