Overview
A giant sport of *Hosta* 'T Rex', registered in 2009, 'Dino' is distinguished by its substantial mound-like habit and broad, medium green leaves with wide, pale yellow margins. The variegation is notably variable, with the gold margin reaching up to 1.7 inches (4.3 cm) in width.
In the Garden
'Dino' reaches a mature spread of 74 inches (188 cm) and a height of 25.4 inches (64.5 cm), making it suitable as a bold specimen or focal point in partial to full shade. Its moderate growth rate and large, broadly ovate leaves with dull surfaces pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture or color. The green scapes, reaching 29.4 to 34.6 inches (74.7 to 87.9 cm), bear flowers typical of the genus.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
