Overview

Registered in 2015, 'Foundry Gold' is a giant hosta of unknown parentage distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad, flat gold margins. The foliage exhibits a light powder blue over yellow coloration in spring, with deeply corrugated, broadly ovate leaves that are lightly cupped and folded.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a substantial mound 25 inches (63.5 cm) tall and 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain most vivid, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The light yellow scapes, reaching 25 to 30 inches (63.5 to 76.2 cm), bear flowers typical of the genus.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, applying fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, requiring protection in areas where these pests are prevalent.
