Overview
Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Fluted Emerald Glass' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from an open seedling pollinated by *Hosta* 'Lakeside Looking Glass'. Its most distinctive features are the very shiny, dark green leaf centers contrasted with wide, golden yellow, heavily rippled margins, and the pronounced fluting and twisting of the leaf blade.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain brightest. Its small size and glossy foliage make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings, where it pairs well with fine-textured ferns or small woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
