Overview

Registered in 2014, *Hosta* 'Flash Forward' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Deja Blu' that produces a small, mound-like clump. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its medium green to blue-green leaf centers, chartreuse to gold margins, and an irregular white lightning bolt pattern that separates the two zones.

In the Garden

'Flash Forward' reaches approximately 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. Its small size and broad, ovate leaves with cordate bases make it suitable for the front of a shaded border, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with other small cultivars or shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns and heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Flash Forward' may be susceptible to slug damage, particularly in damp conditions, and deer browsing where populations are high.
