Hosta ‘English Sunrise’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2003
Section classIV-3

Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'June' registered in 2003, 'English Sunrise' is a small, slow-growing cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with golden yellow margins. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 5 inches (12.7 cm) long and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) wide, display a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and 12 to 13 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'English Sunrise' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold margins remain brightest, and is well-suited for small gardens, rockeries, or front-of-border positions. Its small size also makes it an appropriate candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
