Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'High Noon' registered in 2000, 'Climax' is a giant cultivar distinguished by its large, cordate leaves of medium green with golden yellow margins. The leaf surface is dull on both sides, with flat margins and twelve pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Climax' reaches a mature spread of 50 inches (127 cm) and a height of 24 inches (61 cm), with an upright growth habit. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded to partially shaded borders, performing best in typical hosta-growing zones. The golden-margined leaves provide contrast when paired with dark-leaved perennials such as *Heuchera* or ferns.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Climax' is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protective measures.
