Hosta ‘Broadway’ is a registered cultivar () .

Overview

Registered in 2013 as a sport of an unidentified parent, *Hosta* 'Broadway' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with exceptionally broad, creamy white margins measuring approximately 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide. The flat, broadly ovate leaves exhibit a slightly shiny surface on both sides and are borne in a dense, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'Broadway' reaches a mature diameter of 36.6 inches (93.0 cm) and a height of 16.8 inches (42.7 cm), with scapes extending 19.25 to 27.5 inches (48.9 to 69.9 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain stable and do not scorch. The moderate growth rate and compact mound make it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds; it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Broadway' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones; slug control measures may be necessary in damp conditions.
