Overview

Registered in 2008, *Hosta* 'Border Street' originated as an open-pollinated seedling from a streaked *H. 'Lakeside Roy El'* F1 plant. This large cultivar is distinguished by its dark green leaves with broad, creamy white margins that create a pronounced stitched effect, with wrinkles developing near the veins on mature foliage.

In the Garden

'Border Street' forms a substantial, mound-like clump reaching 40.6 inches (103 cm) in diameter and 23.2 inches (59 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the variegation remains stable, and its broad, ovate leaves with cordate bases provide strong textural contrast. The green scapes, rising 26.8 to 34.3 inches (68–87 cm), carry pale lavender flowers in midsummer, making this cultivar suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen among ferns and other shade perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Border Street' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
