Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Blue You Bet' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its nearly round, medium blue-green leaves with flat margins and a lightly cupped form. The thick, cordate-based foliage exhibits 9 to 11 vein pairs and emerges from a slow-growing, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

This compact hosta reaches 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and spreads to 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or small-scale shade plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green leaf color is most pronounced, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small woodland perennials. Its modest size and slow growth rate also suit container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth resumes. The thick leaf substance provides moderate resistance to slug damage, though standard slug control measures are advisable in damp conditions.
