Registered in 1990 by Fairway Enterprises, 'Alvatine Taylor' is a large sport distinguished by its blue-green leaves with pale chartreuse margins. The foliage is broadly ovate, measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide, with 8 to 9 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a substantial mound 30 inches (76.2 cm) in both height and diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, blue-green leaves with contrasting margins pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials that complement its cool coloration. The scape reaches 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas, particularly in shaded, moist garden areas.
