Overview
Registered in 1993 by V. Grapes and subsequently registered by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Vivian' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Stenantha Variegated'. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with pure white, slightly rippled margins, and its rounded leaf bases.
In the Garden
'Hosta' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 24 inches (61.6 cm) and a height of 13.5 inches (34.3 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions in shaded or partially shaded beds. Its white-margined foliage provides contrast when planted near solid green or gold-leaved hostas, and it performs well in typical hosta-growing zones with consistent moisture.
Care Notes
Provide regular water during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage; monitor and manage as needed.
