Overview
Registered in 2000 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Sunlight Sister', 'Sunlight Cinderella' is a large-sized cultivar distinguished by its broad leaves with golden yellow centers and dark green margins. The leaf blades measure up to 24.1 cm (9.5 in) in length and 19.1 cm (7.5 in) in width, creating a bold, variegated effect.
In the Garden
This hosta performs best in partial to full shade, where its gold-centered leaves hold their color without scorching. At maturity, plants form substantial clumps reaching approximately 60–75 cm (24–30 in) in height and 90–120 cm (36–48 in) in spread, suitable for mid-border or woodland garden placement. Its large, contrasting foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
