Overview

Registered in 1984 by Walters Gardens, Inc., *Hosta* 'Sundance' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Aoki'. Its leaves are green with cream to yellow-white margins, and the leaf blade averages 9 inches (22.9 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with nine pairs of veins.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a dense mound 22 inches (55.9 cm) tall and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the variegated margins remain distinct; excessive sun may cause marginal burning. The scape reaches 36 inches (91.4 cm) in height. Suitable companions include ferns, *Heuchera*, and *Tiarella* in shaded borders or woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, and deer will browse the leaves if accessible.
