Overview

Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Sun Goddess' is a giant cultivar resulting from open pollination of *Hosta* 'Sun Power'. It is visually distinguished by its very large, broadly ovate leaves with deeply impressed veins, which emerge bright yellow in spring and retain this coloration in sufficient sun, set against yellow-green to yellow flat margins.

In the Garden

'Sun Goddess' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height. It performs best in locations with morning sun or dappled light to maintain its bright leaf color, though it tolerates typical hosta shade conditions. Its substantial foliage pairs well with fine-textured perennials such as ferns or ornamental grasses, and it is suitable as a specimen or accent in larger borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended for this large-leaved cultivar in typical hosta-growing zones.
