H. ‘Summer Rapture’

Overview

Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Summer Rapture' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Fascination' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Summer Music' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, green leaves with bright yellow margins that undergo a seasonal color change, and for its moderately wavy leaf texture with a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

'Summer Rapture' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching approximately 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Summer Rapture' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
