H. ‘Stargazer’

Overview

Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Stargazer' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a complex cross involving *H. yingeri* and *H. ventricosa* 'Aureomarginata'. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, medium green leaves with creamy white margins of variable width (0.6 to 1.9 cm) and moderately twisted, lightly wavy leaf surfaces.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound 30.5 cm (12 in) high and 61.0 cm (24 in) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds. Its medium size and tidy mound habit make it appropriate for mixed perennial plantings or container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through standard control methods.
