Overview

Registered in 2002 by P. & J. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Snowbound' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually defined by its ovate, light green leaves with creamy white, flat margins ranging from 0.1 to 1.3 cm wide, and a slightly shiny upper surface with moderate corrugation.

In the Garden

'Snowbound' forms a mound-like clump reaching 44.5 cm (17.5 in) in height and 66.0 cm (26 in) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its broad, variegated foliage provides contrast alongside finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its medium size suits it for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
