Registered in 1985 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, *Hosta* 'Snow Crust' is a giant sport known for its substantial dimensions and crisp white leaf margins. The cultivar produces medium green leaves with a 0.5-inch (1.3 cm) wide white border, creating a strong contrast against the darker blade.

In the Garden

'Snow Crust' reaches a mature diameter of 66 inches (167.6 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), making it suitable as a specimen plant or a bold accent in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain distinct without scorching. The large, heavily textured leaves pair well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its size precludes container cultivation for most settings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, particularly in damp conditions, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in typical hosta-growing zones.
