It is visually distinctive for its lance-shaped, medium green leaves with heavily rippled, creamy white margins that measure approximately 0.1 inch (0.3 cm) wide.

'Roller Coaster Ride' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and is well suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation due to its small stature.
