Overview

Registered in 2002, 'Power of Prayer' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Paradise Power' distinguished by its small stature and contrasting leaf coloration: a dark green margin that variably streaks into a bright gold center. The heavily rippled, ovate leaves measure 7 inches (17.8 cm) long by 2.75 inches (7.0 cm) wide, with eight vein pairs and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

Reaching a mature height of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a spread of 17 inches (43.2 cm), this small hosta forms an upright clump with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation, performing best in partial to dappled shade typical of hosta-growing zones. The gold-centered leaves provide contrast when paired with dark-leaved perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Carex*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly for signs of feeding.
