Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Kathryn Lewis' registered in 2005, 'Olympic Sunrise' is a small hosta distinguished by its intensely blue-green leaf margins framing a yellow to creamy white center. The leaves measure 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) wide, with margins 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) wide, and the foliage exhibits outstanding substance that holds well into autumn.

In the Garden

'Olympic Sunrise' performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegation remains most stable. At maturity, it forms a compact clump suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and small shade-tolerant perennials that complement its low, mounding habit.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slug and deer resistance is not specifically documented, the thick leaf substance may offer some deterrence; monitor for slug activity in moist conditions.
