Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Ohh! Ludell' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage, arising from a seedling of unknown origin. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, heavily corrugated leaves that are green with greenish-yellow, slightly rippled margins, held horizontally on a mound-like plant.

In the Garden

'Ohh! Ludell' forms a slow-growing, dense mound reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with scapes rising 16 to 20 inches (40.6 to 50.8 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its rounded, textured foliage provides contrast alongside finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its moderate size makes it suitable for the middle of a shaded border or as a groundcover in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
