Overview

Registered in 1990 by Kuk's Forest Nursery, *Hosta* 'Minuet' is a sport of *H. 'Crispula'* distinguished by its medium green leaves with white margins and small undulations along the leaf edges. The cultivar produces a compact, mounded form with 8.5-inch-long leaves and eight pairs of veins, reaching a mature diameter of 21 inches (53.3 cm) and height of 10 inches (25.4 cm).

In the Garden

'Minuet' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, where its white margins remain crisp without scorching. At medium size, it suits the middle of a shaded border or as an edging plant, pairing well with ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella* for textural contrast. The 26-inch scapes bear lavender flowers in midsummer, adding vertical interest above the foliage mound.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Minuet' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
