Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Mighty Mouse' registered in 2014, 'Midas Mouse' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with greenish-yellow flat margins. The leaf surface is dull on both sides, and the plant forms a compact, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'Midas Mouse' reaches a mature size of approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) in diameter and 3 inches (7.6 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for shaded or partially shaded positions in typical hosta-growing zones, and its diminutive stature makes it an excellent choice for trough gardens, rockeries, or the front of a shaded border. Companion planting with other small-scale shade perennials, such as miniature ferns or *Heuchera* cultivars, can complement its muted coloration.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, foliage may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, though the small leaf size may reduce feeding pressure.
