Registered in 2003, this medium-sized cultivar is a chimeral reversal of *Hosta* 'White Christmas', producing medium green leaves with narrow creamy white margins rather than the reverse variegation of its parent. The leaves measure 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, with margins approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide.

In the Garden

'Merry Christmas' performs best in partial to full shade, where its green-centered leaves with white margins provide reliable contrast against darker foliage. As a medium hosta, it reaches a mature clump size suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its clean variegation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges.
