Overview
Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Majestic' originated as a sport of a seedling from the cross *H.* 'Splashed Leather' × *H.* 'Yellow Splash'. This medium-sized cultivar is visually distinctive for its very shiny, dark green leaves with wide, creamy to pure white margins that contrast sharply against the blade.
In the Garden
*Hosta* 'Majestic' forms a fast-growing, mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain crisp without scorching. The substantial leaf size and bold variegation make it effective as a specimen or in mass plantings, pairing well with ferns and other shade perennials. Its large dimensions render it unsuitable for containers.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring protection in areas where these pests are prevalent.
