Overview
Registered in 1985 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, this sport of *Hosta* 'August Moon' produces medium-sized clumps with yellow leaves edged in white margins approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide. The foliage displays 10 vein pairs, with each leaf reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) wide, creating a distinct bicolor effect against the green-centered parent.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and spread to 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, making this cultivar suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. The yellow leaf centers brighten with morning sun but may scorch in afternoon heat, so filtered light is optimal. Companion plants such as ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella* provide textural contrast, though the plant's medium size limits container suitability unless grown in large pots.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during establishment and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, particularly in damp conditions, so monitoring and control measures are advisable in typical hosta-growing zones.
