Overview
Registered in 1998, this small hosta cultivar was developed from a seedling pod parent pollinated by *Hosta* 'Lakeside Little Gem'. 'Lakeside Chatterbox' is visually defined by its green leaves with gold margins, the margins characterized by heavy yellow rippling, and by the contrast between a dull upper leaf surface and a very shiny underside.
In the Garden
Reaching a mature size of 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, this mound-forming plant is suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging in partial to full shade. Its small stature and compact habit make it an appropriate choice for container cultivation. Companion plants may include other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials of similar scale.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
