Overview
Registered in 1998 by P. Ruh, this small hosta cultivar forms a compact mound of variegated foliage. Its leaves feature greenish-yellow, slightly rippled margins with a slightly shiny surface on both top and underside, creating a distinctive chartreuse-toned appearance.
In the Garden
'Hosta' reaches a mature diameter of 20 inches (50.8 cm) and height of 11 inches (27.9 cm), with a moderate growth rate and mound-like habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small shade perennials. Its compact size makes it suitable for container cultivation or front-of-border placement.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage.
