Overview
Registered in 1998 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Grand Tiara', 'Amber Tiara' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with yellow margins. The leaf blades are dull on both surfaces, measure 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) long by 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) wide, and bear 7 to 8 pairs of veins with a flat base.
In the Garden
This fast-growing mound reaches 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture. The yellow margins brighten in more light, though full sun may scorch the leaves. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Provide regular water during dry spells, especially in containers. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and control as needed.
