Overview

Registered in 2000 by an unknown breeder, 'Lakeside Bugaboo' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its small, medium green leaves with broad, golden yellow margins. The leaves are dull on both surfaces and feature slightly rippled edges, with a tapered base and three vein pairs.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact mound reaching 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) in height and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other miniature perennials such as small ferns or heucheras. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing in typical hosta-growing zones.
